Kathu is Phuket's green centre — a valley of golf courses, lakes and international schools between Phuket Town and Patong, favoured by families and year-round residents. The area offers the island's best everyday practicality: Central Phuket and the British International School are minutes away, Patong beach is just over the hill, and three golf courses — including the world-class Red Mountain and Loch Palm — wrap the neighbourhoods in green. Because Kathu is residential rather than touristic, buyers get noticeably more space and quality per baht, and the community has a settled, suburban character that is rare on a resort island. Daily life is effortless, with international supermarkets, the island's biggest malls, Phuket's main hospitals and a wide choice of cafés and gyms within a 15-minute radius; for beach days Patong is 15 minutes west, and Phuket Old Town's cafés and galleries are 15 minutes east. The market centres on landed family homes, golf-view villas and lakeside condominiums at prices well below the west coast.
